My Name is Bennie. I began my journey as I imagine many of you did. I was not happy with how I felt, how I looked and how I thought I was perceived by the outside world.
I was at a point in my life that the wrong foods had become such an integral part of my life that I thought how I felt was how it was going to be and I better just come to grips with how I looked.
I had become the heaviest I have ever been at 279 #s and at 5′ 4″. That put my BMI at 47.9. This was October 21st, 2018.
I am not a numbers guy, but I am using this as an example.
I was uncomfortable with about every part of my life. My clothes didn’t fit right and if they did fit they looked ridiculous! I wasn’t comfortable doing the things I loved to do… Swimming, Hiking, Hunting, and being close to my wife!
It was a daunting task to change the way I eat and live. Honestly, I wasn’t sure I could.
My food choices were made a little easier by the manual as I referred to it for every choice at first. I was afraid that I would become bored with the same foods over and over. I was pleasantly surprised that with support from the Facebook page I was able to use a wide supply of recipes to keep me satisfied.
Prepping meals was the game changer for me. I work very long hours and the last thing I want to do when I get home is to start cooking. I prep all my proteins a week at a time. I choose my veggies daily, if I can. Otherwise my go to is having fresh salad choices always available.
WATER, WATER, WATER… so much water was my thought at first. But as I changed, so did my attitude and most important my palate! You need to think of water as a food group added to your daily routine. 8 to 10 oz of water every time you eat anything will get you to where you need to be.
This is a life choice change not a diet. I now understand or view food as a necessity. Cravings are a dehydration red flag and there are great alternatives to things I couldn’t live without before.
It is now July 5th, 2019 and I am 209 #s but I am still 5’4″… lol which puts my BMI at 36. My goal will be to be below 30 someday soon. Deadlines are emotional crushers so have a mentally healthy goal for yourself!
Utilize your tools!
Website recipes are a great way to learn how to prepare and cook on your own. And the FACEBOOK page was and continues to be a big part of my success!
Practitioners are there for more than your drops. They have the experience to guide you. My Dr. is Dr Jen Gavett. She has been instrumental in my journey. Without her guidance I would never have gotten to where I am today and continues to always be there when I need her. It is great to know that if I have a question that someone will be there with an answer. I am truly grateful for the wonderful guidance that she provides and am glad to have her as my SHAPE practitioner.
Good luck to us all and RECLAIM what is yours!”
Sincerely,
-Bennie
